Ski Cheap NYC was created to share informative tips and tricks for anybody who loves to hit the slopes and wants to save a little cash in the process. That includes college kids, aspiring ski bums, working families, and regular old cheapskates alike!

I’m James, creator of this site. I started snowboarding in PA, NJ, NY, and VT almost twenty years ago, but I gave the sport up for several years because it can get so expensive. Now I’m back and ready to be a little more clever with my cash-saving tricks. Join me on this journey if you want to save some cash when you hit the slopes this winter!

Now you might ask yourself: why do I want to share all of this information? Well, for starters, I believe that knowledge and information should be shared freely. In the words of copyright scholar Siva Viadhyanathan, knowledge is “not ‘property’ as commonly understood.” When I share information with somebody else, it doesn’t devalue my own knowledge in any way. Instead, sharing knowledge is central to fundamental values like “free speech, intellectual freedom, and the free flow of information.” By sharing knowledge, we build a community of like-minded individuals who can work together to achieve great things. We can do our small part to bring business to underappreciated resorts and support local independent businesses. In other words, I hope that by making this site, I’m doing my part to make the world a slightly nicer place.
